KANJI<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Kanji represent the name of our karate, Kyokushinkai It means \u201cUltimate Truth\u201d.<\/p>\n

The kanji is displayed on the dogi (left chest area) and can be broken down as follow.<\/p>\n

KYOKUSHINKAI<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These characters were originally painted by Sensei Haramotoki, calligraphy friend of Mas Oyama.<\/p>\n

KANKU<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The symbol of Kyokushin karate is the Kanku.<\/p>\n

This is derived from the Kanku Kata, sky-gazing form, in which the hands are raised to scan the sky and the symbol is form.<\/p>\n

The points of the Kanku are represented by the first finger of each hand touching at the top\u00a0and the thumbs touching at the botton, symbolizing the ultimate peaks.<\/p>\n

The thick sections on each side represent the wrists and imply power.<\/p>\n

The center represent the opening between the hands through which the sky is viewed, symbolizing \u00a0infinity depth.
The whole Kanku is enclosed by a circle, implying continuity and circular movement.<\/p>\n
