Garcia Dojo

David Garcia

4th Dan

01

My name is David Garcia and I welcome you to Garcia Dojo!

Please allow me to fully introduce myself. I was born in Mazatlan, Mexico in 1971.

I began my training in karate at the age of 8 and 40 years later I am still as passionate (maybe even more so) about Martial Arts as I was then.

My introduction to the world of karate started with the art of Shotokan Karate (Gichin Funakoshi’s technique).
After 8 years I added Boxing to my list of passions and trained at the University of Sinaloa in Mexico.

I opened my first Dojo at the age of 22 where I taught my students the art of Shotokan. Together, my students and I, attended and participated in various karate competitions and We did very well, if I may say so proudly!!!

In December of 2001, I moved to Montreal, Canada. I left my Shoto Kan training and set up new roots in the art of KyokushinKai Karate (Sosai Masutatsu Oyama’s technique).

In 2007, I received my Black Belt (Shodan) in KyokushinKai under the instruction of Shihan Andre Gilbert 7th Dan at the time.
However, as a Brown Belt, I was prepared and permitted to teach KyokushinKai in
different schools in Montreal and I absolutely loved it.

I moved to Ottawa On. in 2013 and soon after I began teaching adults as well as children in the art of KyokushinKai Karate.
Proudly I am the country representative of Sonoda Group Kyokushinkai Karate-Do

My Qualifications Are:

Black Belt 4th Dan KyokushinKai Karate

Classes

My classes are design to allow a child to develop at his or her own pace, in a stimulating structured environment that enables them to learn and to interact with others.
Every student has a unique way of learning, and I take that into consideration during my classes.

At the same time, I maintain an environment of respect at all times.
Respect, self-discipline, knowledge, physical and mental strength are key elements of karate.

Our classes are rewarding, encouraging, and fun, while remaining challenging.
This art is my passion, and I am honored to share it with others.

All my classes are structured as follows:

Warm-up exercises, strength (sits ups, pushups etc.)
Stretching for flexibility, aerobic (running, jumping jacks etc.),
balance, coordination, concentration, skill and respect, all devoted to basic and advanced Karate techniques.

To me, Karate is not just a sport.
Karate has a history; every move choreographed with meaning and purpose, discipline and respect.  My students inspire me; I learn from them and with them.
I teach them the Kyokushin way of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama.
